Salutations and welcome to another session of WWBS or What Would Bangs Say?
Today we'll be answering another question from one of our lovely followers. This one's from Dawn: "Does human have pet insurance on you and how do you feel about it?"
What a great question, Dawn! Pet insurance does seem to be a big thing nowadays.
Every human wants what's best for their furry family members, of course, but not everyone can afford insurance. Our quick answer would be that if you can afford it, it's worth getting but there are things to consider.
First off, every pet insurance company is different and have a different set of rules and guidelines. So please take the time to research if you do decide to buy. From what we have read, the most recommended company is: Trupanion. We will post a link to their page below.
Another thing to keep in mind is it's best to get pet insurance when a pet is young or as soon as you adopt because the insurance only covers unexpected conditions rather than pre-existing ones. We will share a video below that explains this in better detail. We'll be honest, with my human being on disability, they do not have pet insurance. There are alternatives to consider. We will list some below.
Credit Cards - These can help you pay your vet bill over time and is easier to afford but beware of interest charges and late fees. Low-cost clinics - Some animal shelters and organizations offer veterinary services at discounted prices. You may also consider visiting a veterinary college.
GoFundMe - It doesn't hurt to start a GoFundMe if you need help with vet bills. My human and I are always happy to share GoFundMe pages on our FB page so feel free to let us know if you start one. Friends and Family - We are very blessed to have helpful family members that can help us if we need financial assistance but we know not everyone has this luxury. Also, many dog parks and community centers will have bulleting boards where you can post about your situation.
Phew, that's about it, I think. We hope this helped answer your question, Dawn. You'll have to let us know whether or not you decided to get pet insurance. (If you want to, that is). Thanks so much for your question! Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week and we'll see you next time. Shine bright, starlights!
